Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Filling and Toppings
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 dash vanilla extract

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Mixing Ingredients
  1. In another bowl, combine the sugars, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract using a mixer on medium speed until smooth and well-blended.
  2. Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  3. Gently fold in the diced apples and nuts (if using) using a spatula.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. While the bread is cooling, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract for the glaze.
  3. Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack and drizzle the glaze on top.

Notes

Choose the right apples for the best flavor. Let the bread cool before adding glaze to ensure it sets properly. Consider experimenting with different spices and add-ins.
