Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • ½ cup warm milk (about 110°F)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
For the Cheesecake Filling
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Blueberry Swirl
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Method

Preparing the Dough
  1. Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and eggs. Once the yeast has activated, mix it into the wet ingredients.
  3. Form the Dough: Gradually add the flour and salt. Combine until it starts forming a dough. Knead on a floured surface for about 5-8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Let It Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm area for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
Making the Filling
  1. Cheesecake Mixture: In a medium bowl, mix softened cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and egg until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
  2. Blueberry Swirl: In a saucepan, combine blueberries, sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch over medium heat. Cook until the blueberries burst and the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes. Let it cool slightly.

Notes

Don’t Rush the Rise: Allowing the dough to rise properly is crucial for fluffy rolls. Use room temperature ingredients for easier mixing. Taste the blueberry filling and adjust sugar or lemon juice to preference. Roll gently to maintain layers.
